Thailand may be the land of smiles, but for me it was a sensory overload with an enigmatic aura and an explosive brashness in which anything goes and yet a gentleness of grace envelopes all.
Its contradictions blew my mind. One moment beautifully chilled out, lulling me into feelings of languid silk, ready to meld me into the verdant surrounds but a turn of the corner could evaporate the illusions and expose a seamy and powerful brutality, a powder keg crackle waiting to explode.
